  • With rainy season in full swing, one can see beautiful waterfalls across the ghats of Sahyadari in Shahapur district. All types of small and big waterfalls can be seen in these ghats. But the most beautiful and prominent waterfall among these is the Mahuli waterfall, which attracts tourist from all over Maharashtra. Killa Mahuli (Fort Mahuli) is only 8Kms from Asangoan railway station. Mountains covered in greenery with waterfall beds attracts Mumbaikars to this destination.
  • Heavy rainfalls assures dense waterfall which though looks beautiful, it is not safe to play in or around these waterfalls due to the tremendous force of the water.

  • The same can be seen with Mahuli waterfall, as few have lost their precious lives in this waterfall. Pritam Jain( 25), Indrapal Patil (24), Rajesh Gokarna(18) have lost their life recently.
  • As per the Maharashtra State Tourism Development, the Mahuli Gram Panchyat committee has developed roads, signs boards and also bridges have been built for tourist safety. These road development has helped tourist in reaching this fort and waterfall safely within less time. Some careless tourist don’t take these signs boards seriously, by putting theirs and others lives in danger.
  • The locals believe that the place is loosing its original historic importance of being one of the forts of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Due to the increased alcoholism by tourists who come for partying and enjoyment, the purity of Shiv and Ganpati temple build by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on this fort is lost .

  • With the increasing tourist numbers on the weekends, Mahuli Grampanchyat committee has asked for more police protection, also strict action against tourist who break laws.
